May 19 is National Kids to Parks Day.

What does this mean?

Many local, state, and national parks will have special programs for kids and their families to encourage them to spend more time outdoors and away from electronics.

We love exploring our local (and not-so-local) parks, so we love the idea of encouraging others to explore the parks around them. We’ve visited national parks around the country and have gotten to see such a variety of trees, animals, and scenery.

We also love the Junior Ranger programs offered at the national parks (and many state parks have similar programs), and Kids to Parks Day is a great opportunity to introduce your kids to the Junior Ranger program if you haven’t already.

Not sure if there’s any parks in your area hosting special activities? Go to this site to find parks with special activities.

We’ll be heading to Shenandoah NP and checking out the activities at the Byrd Visitor’s Center. Where will you go?

Did you know you can rent an RV or travel trailer to road trip to national parks? Skip the big corporate rental companies and rent from someone local. Look on RVShare or Outdoorsy to find a rig that will work for you.
