I love traveling and hiking, but I also love making things.

I’ve built furniture, a wall of built-in bookshelves, a patio outside our walk-out basement, a treehouse, and a chicken barn.

I sew elaborate Halloween costumes and make the props to accompany them.

I’ve dabbled in cross-stitch and crochet, scrapbooking and card making.

I love my power tools, my sewing machine (a vintage Singer from the 60s), my Silhouette, and my GlowForge.

When I came up with the idea of making and selling leather-bound journals, it really felt like a no-brainer. Working with leather and paper and experimenting with my GlowForge laser cutter? Yes, please!

Unfortunately, it took me a lot longer than I wanted to get things up and running.

It’s the curse of the enthusiastic, slightly scattered, entrepreneur.

So many things to do and try, so little time.

After spending too much time in front of my laptop in recent months, I decided it was time to re-focus on my journals. They’d been pushed to the back burner for too long.

I cut the journal covers from 3-4 ounce veg tanned leather. The thick leather provides a sturdy cover that will stand up to your adventures. Veg tanned leather is tanned using natural materials for an eco-friendly process.

The pages are made from 50 sheets of 70# paper in a smooth, warm white finish. The thicker paper gives a smooth, even writing surface and means ink won’t bleed through.

I sew the paper signatures into the leather cover in such a way that the pages lie flat. This makes it much easier to record your adventures as you travel or spend time in nature.

These journals make perfect gifts for friends and family, or yourself 🙂

Use it as a travel journal, nature journal, sketch book, writing notebook, or whatever strikes your fancy.

Right now I’ve got three journals in my Etsy store, with more to come. The larger journal is 9″ tall by 6.25″ wide. The smaller journal is 6″ tall by 5.25″ wide. I also have music practice books that are 7.5″ tall by 8.75″ wide. These have thinner paper and are perfect for music lessons or songwriters.

Currently the covers are all plain, but I will soon have some covers with laser-etched designs, and personalization will be available.
